6 Laxay is in the quiet village of Laxay (Lacasaigh) in the Lochs area of the Isle of Lewis, overlooking Loch Erisort. It sits 100 yards off the main A859 road, about 15–20 minutes’ drive south-west of Stornoway.

6 Laxay sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms – one with a king-sized double bed and two with double beds (two bedrooms upstairs and one down). There is also a fold-up single bed downstairs, which can be made up as a twin room if needed.

Yes – we’re very dog friendly. The garden is fully fenced and enclosed, making it safe for dogs and children, unless your dog is a particularly good jumper. We just ask that dogs are well supervised indoors.

The bathroom has a walk-in power shower and toilet – please note there is no bath. There is also a separate toilet downstairs in the utility room.

Yes. The cottage has superfast broadband via Starlink, with speeds normally between 200 and 300 Mbps – ideal for streaming, video calls and remote working.

6 Laxay has oil central heating throughout, plus a cosy wood-burning stove in the living room. We supply an initial basket of logs to get you started (the stove takes small logs).

The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric Belling cooker, microwave, air fryer, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster, plus cutlery, crockery, pans, baking trays and glassware. There is also a washing machine/dryer.

Rental prices include electricity, heating, and all bed linen and towels, so there is nothing extra to arrange before you arrive.

Yes – there is a flat-screen smart TV in the living room and in the master bedroom, both with Sky Stream including the full movies and sport package.

Yes, there is off-road parking for several cars at the property.

A high chair is available on request (please ask in advance), and the enclosed garden is safe for children to play in. The fold-up single bed can also be made up for a child if needed.

Stornoway, 15–20 minutes away, has two good supermarkets, a fishmonger and butchers. For essentials there is a filling station and shop just 4 miles away at Leurbost, which also has a doctor’s surgery.

You’re well placed to explore Lewis and Harris. The Callanish Standing Stones are about 15 minutes away, and the spectacular beaches of Lewis and Harris (including Luskentyre, Uig and Reef) are within 45–60 minutes’ drive. Other highlights include Harris Tweed weavers, Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Lews Castle and the Butt of Lewis.
