Welcome to our comfortable three-bedroom holiday cottage in Laxay overlooking the beautiful waters of Loch Erisort on the Isle of Lewis. Set in a peaceful location just 15–20 minutes from Stornoway, the house offers stunning loch views, modern facilities and the perfect base for exploring both Lewis and Harris.
Sleeping up to six guests, the cottage provides spacious self-catering accommodation on the Isle of Lewis, ideal for families, couples travelling together, remote workers or longer island stays. Guests can enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, fast Starlink WiFi, oil central heating, a cosy log burner and Sky TV (including movies and sports), along with an enclosed garden that makes the property dog friendly.

The Beaches of Lewis & Harris
Within 50 minutes drive in different directions through stunning scenery, you can reach the beaches of Harris (including Luskentyre, Seilebost, Horgabost, Borve and Scarista), the western beaches on Lewis (Cliff, Reef, Uig and Bosta) as well the northern beaches (Traigh Mor, Tolsta). All of them are majestic – and normally quiet.
Callanish Standing Stones
About 25 minutes away you can visit the Callanish Standing Stones, an extraordinary circle of huge Lewisian gneiss rocks set on a hillside above Loch Roag. Older than Stonehenge and aligned with the movements of the moon, they were erected around 5,000 years ago and remain one of Europe’s most important prehistoric sites.

Being 15–20 minutes away from Stornoway means you have easy access to two good supermarkets, fishmongers and butchers – and for urgent things there is the filling station and shop 4 miles up the road at Leurbost. There is also a doctor’s surgery there too, in case anyone in your party needs medical attention.

How far is 6 Laxay from Stornoway?
About 15–20 minutes’ drive south-west, on the A859 towards Tarbert. The house is in Laxay (Lacasaigh), 100 yards off the main road, and our directions from Stornoway and Tarbert take you to the door.
How many does it sleep, and is there a bedroom downstairs?
Six, in three double bedrooms. One is on the ground floor beside the shower room, with a fold-up single that makes it a twin, so guests who would rather avoid the stairs can sleep, shower and live on one floor. The full list is on our facilities page.
What does a week cost?
From £950 a week in low season to £2,050 in high summer and over Christmas and New Year, including electricity, heating, linen and towels. Every band and its dates are on our rates and booking page.
Is 6 Laxay good for working or writing?
Yes. Starlink broadband runs at 200 to 300 Mbps and there is a desk in the second bedroom upstairs. We have pages for contractors working on the island and for artists and writers.
